Pandora's Box

This oil on canvas was done for a show. I wanted to capture the vivid reds and dark darks of illustrations like Edwin Austin Abbey's-not to mention the historical/fantasy subject matter often found in pieces of that time that inspired my obsession with them. Really no Mucha reference was used although I get alot of comments from people that it has similarities to his work. Perhaps it is the 18k god leafed headpiece she wheres inspired by the art nouveau period-that was fun putting on a canvas. All in all I wanted to do a classic illustration that would make people remember greats like Waterhouse and Rossetti.
